Doula Program - Henry Ford Health

A model for adding doulas to obstetric care teams to strengthen support and improve birth outcomes.

Henry Ford Health Detroit and West Bloomfield location has a hospital-based doula program integrates community-based doulas directly into hospital care teams to improve maternal and infant outcomes, particularly addressing disparities driven by social drivers of health (SDoH). This initiative leverages state Medicaid funding to provide prenatal, labor and delivery, and postpartum doula support, targeting patients with Medicaid insurance and at least two identified SDoH factors. Additionally, we offer on-call doula services for patients who are admitted in labor without prenatal care or adequate support.
