Michigan Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (MI AIM)

In fiscal year 2021, SEMPQIC began formally supporting MI AIM in Region 10 with funding from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS)

SEMPQIC works with the Michigan Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (MI-AIM) and  local birthing hospitals to implement nationally recognized patient safety bundles aimed at improving maternal health outcomes.

These bundles focus on critical areas such as severe hypertension, obstetric hemorrhage, sepsis, and reducing racial and ethnic disparities in maternal care. Hospitals that adopt these protocols regularly report on their progress to ensure accountability and drive continuous improvement.

With a $55,000 grant from SEMPQIC, Trinity Health Oakland, Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital and Corewell Health Trenton each implemented targeted initiatives to improve maternal health outcomes and patient safety. Trinity Health Oakland focused on clinical innovation and equity, Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital prioritized patient safety and staff development, and maternal sepsis training, and Corewell Health Trenton addressed care access gaps by launching an educational campaign on postpartum complications.
