Reginald Day is a Certified Lactation Counselor and Community Health Worker with over 15 years of experience serving families and specifically fathers. He is also Mental Health First Aid trained. Specializing in fatherhood and perinatal support, Reginald uses his experience to walk alongside families and fathers during the parenthood journey by supporting with coaching, community resources and connections.
By ensuring that the whole family is centered and that the SDoH needs are factored into the care of families, Reginald has made good use of his bachelor’s degree in Health Service Administration from University of Detroit Mercy along with his CLC and CHW certification. Having served as an administrator in home health for over 12 years he decided to follow his passion for serving and uplifting families. Over the years, Reginald has grown his community connections and shared his experience by participating in many local, state, and national conferences, ensuring that fathers are centered along with mom and baby in maternal and infant health care.
When he is not working and supporting families, Reginald enjoys being with his family whether outdoors enjoying nature or sharpening his photography and videography skills.
Rosemary Adaji, PhD, is an epidemiologist and maternal health equity researcher whose work focuses on psychosocial and relational determinants of pregnancy and birth outcomes, with particular attention to Black maternal and infant health. Her research examines how stress, depressive symptoms, partner and family relationship quality, and structural inequities shape maternal morbidity and adverse birth outcomes.
She brings expertise in perinatal epidemiology, social determinants of health, and quantitative research methods, and her scholarship emphasizes translating evidence into culturally responsive, community-centered strategies that improve the health of mothers, babies, and families.
Rhonda Dailey, M.D., is an Associate Professor of Research in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health Sciences (DFMPHS) in the School of Medicine. Dr. Dailey is currently serves as the PI to Preeclampsia, PFAS Exposures, and Proteomic Signatures in Urban Pregnant Women Study; CoInvestigator of the Digital Engagement and Cancer Outcomes (DECO) Center; Co-Associate Director of the Community Engagement Core of the Addressing Cardiometabolic Health In Populations Through Early Prevention in the Great Lakes Region (ACHIEVE GREATER) Center; and the Detroit Site-Principal Investigator of the Biosocial Impact on Black Births (BIBB) and Father’s Matter studies.
Formally trained in medicine, Dr. Dailey has 25 years of experience in behavioral and health-disparities research and expertise in the recruitment and retention of minority populations in clinical settings and the engagement of medical professionals and community stakeholders in research. She has over 150 peer-reviewed publications, poster presentations, invited lectures, and speaking engagements. Her research centers on improving the quality of patient health care and includes projects focused on community engaged research, perinatal health, health disparities related to chronic disease (including cardiovascular disease), patient attitudes and beliefs about health, and healthcare quality. Through the Office of Community Engaged Research and collaborative efforts, she has spearheaded efforts to hold dozens of workshops focused on optimizing communication and community engagement within the School of Medicine and at other institutions.
In addition to being a member of many local and national committees, Dr. Dailey is a faculty member and former Scientific Director of the Office of Community Engaged Research and is currently a Steering committee member of WSU’s Community-Engaged Collaborative for the Promotion of Access to Technology and Health (CEC-PATH); Planning Committee member of WSU’s Detroit Community Health Alliance and Partnerships (D-CHAP), and Advisory Committee member for the Southeastern Michigan Quality Improvement Coalition (SEMPQIC). Dr. Dailey is the recipient of the 2023 Outstanding Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Faculty Scholar Award and a 2024 recipient of Wayne State University’s inaugural Annual Community Engagement Award.
